Buying Textbooks Online

If you’re a student, being short of money is almost always the case. Textbooks can really break the bank quickly, but you can save a bundle just by buying textbooks online. In fact, once you purchase textbooks online, you’ll never again go back to the ways of the past. Here are some simple tips to help you get the best deal online.

1. Buy Used Textbooks Whenever Possible – There’s no question that second hand textbooks are considerably cheaper than new textbooks, so whenever possible buy used textbooks.

2. Buy Before Classes Start – Rather than waiting for classes to start and then having to compete with all the other students taking the same course, why not buy in advance when demand is low and thus prices are lower too. Most colleges and universities supply a textbook list in advance, but if yours doesn’t you can talk directly to your professor and find out what textbooks you’ll need.

3. Use The ISBN In Your Online Textbook Searches – This is one way to make your searches far more effective and the end result is that you’ll have much better luck not only finding more of the textbooks you need but you’ll also be able to find the very best price.

4. Can You Use An Older Edition – Sometimes textbooks change too quickly and so you must have the latest edition, but that’s not always how it is. If you can use an older edition, many times you can buy them extremely cheap.

5. Free Shipping – There’s nothing more frustrating than finding a great buy on a textbook online only to discover the shipping is outrageous. Instead, why not look for free shipping. Sometimes you have to order a certain dollar value to enjoy free shipping. If you are taking more than one course then you could save a bundle by combining your order.

6. Shop Around – Of course, you already know this, but it never hurts to stress it just a bit more. When you are looking at buying textbooks online, shop around. Always compare the full price including shipping to really make sure you are getting the best buy around. There are some sites that make this task really easy to accomplish.

7. Buy An International Edition Of Your Textbook – There are textbooks authorized for sale and distribution in the United States and Canada, and then there are textbooks authorized for sale in the other parts of the world, which are the international editions. These can often be purchased for dramatically less.

8. Recycle Your Textbooks – Keep your textbooks in good shape. That way when you are done with them you might be able to sell them, putting the funds towards your next semester’s textbooks. It does help keep the cost down a bit. In fact, you can list them on one of the online textbook sites.

Combine these simple tips with buying textbooks online and you’ll save a bundle on your textbooks. After all, as a poor starving student you need to make your money reach.
